funding in BC:

Erin O'Melinn, Executive Director of HUB:Your Cycling Connection
John Richards, School of Public Policy, SFU, Harbour Centre

Bike The Blossom on Sat April 27

Join Velopalooza and the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival for a fun, free guided bike ride. The ride will tour the blossom cherry trees in Vancouver and include a talk by Parks Board Arborist, Bill Stephen. We will have our mobile bicycle repair trucks along the ride with us courtesy of VanCycle! (http://www.vancycle.com/

We start at China Creek south where we bike along the blossoms at a casual family friendly pace until we reach Kensington Community Centre. At that time we will be greeted by some of Vancouver's finest food trucks! Feel free to pack your own lunch as well. We will have some entertainment from the Carnival Band who will be riding along with us playing some of our favourite blossomy tunes. After that we will meander our way back through the Blossoms finalizing the ride at Trout Lake. At Trout Lake, the B:C:Clettes wrap up the ride with Spoken Word performance, dance music, and interactive games.

When: Saturday April 27
Meet us at China Creek South Park on Clark Dr. and 10th Ave. bikeway at 11:00 AM or a little earlier.

Single File Riding By-law Repealed -- in Toronto

--

We're pleased to report that City Council has successfully repealed the Single File Riding By-law! Thanks to a member motion led by Councillor Stintz and Councillor Colle, Public Works and Infrastructure Committee (PWIC) reviewed the by-law and unanimously supported repealing it.

It was crucial to repeal it now; the fine for riding side-by-side on all roads in Toronto was to increase to $60 later this year.

We deputed on the item at PWIC, worked with members of Morning Glory Cycling Club and Lapdogs Cycling Club and encouraged our members to write PWIC to build public support for the revision.

Read more on why it was so important to repeal the by-law here.
