deleting comments is what people do when their argument sucks

No, I delete comments that are violently threatening or otherwise unacceptable (personal attacks, etc). I leave them up (as deleted temporarily and hidden rather than totally erased so you would never know they are here) as a way of being non-censurious. I very much agree with free speech. However, the internet is wide and you have many other venues. Violent threats are not OK, and there is no point keeping them up. Spam as well.

I'll leave your assumption to stand as it is. I leave lots of comments I don't like up because I know that you will do a better job yourself discrediting your nonsense argument than I ever could.

People who always post anonymously rather than login or signing off aren't terribly credible.

Hmm... actually I don't know how to get comments back... do you? Is it possible? Comment moderation just seems to be a feature to make comments require approval first (I've got better things to do). When you delete them but don't "delete forever" it makes it seem like you could go back and find the offending comment afterwards... But maybe not. Sucky, Google should add that feature. About half the comments I delete are spam and half threats. Usually I like to "delete forever" the spam. I wanted to go back and double check what these were. Oh well, one day we'll migrate this all to a more self sufficient website that won't be subject to whatever free features are offered by Google so then I can get all the functions working the way they should.
