[Mcthree] more on bike war

This just in from Ratchet :

Howdy, So The bike War is going to be next Saturday, March 4th. The idea is
to build up a sturdy bike that you don't have any emotional attachment to
and in a ring you run into your opponents as hard as you can trying to
destroy there bike. The last person with a bike that is still ridable wins.
Minor adjustments (ie. fixing your chain, adjusting your brakes, ect) on
your bike during the race are ok but you can not lets say, swap out your
wheel mid race. Also, The idea is Fun NOT violence, any obvious foul play
willl cause you to be removed from the race. But accients do happen so a
trained street medic and a Wilderness First Responder will be there to help
anyone in need.

Also aside from the war I'm trying to have some tallbike jousting so if
anyone out there has a tallbike and would like to joust please let me know.

Thanks, and I hpe to see yu on the 4th.

...more on
Sat, /march 4th at 1 pm. The meeting place is in the alley
behind the Alf house. The alf house is located at 1342 on EEE Georgia
St, right by Clark St. from the alley it's very obvious which house
is the alf house. (just look for the strung up bicycles on the
fence) At about 1:30-2pm we'll leave to the nearby Britannia Field,
Its' a very large gravel field (easy to ride on).

Keep it real,

it's fun too, bring soundboxes and musical instruments if you can all are invited. This is an inclusive event. If you are a regular please try and bring a newbie. We are out there fighting for what is right but the individual drivers are not our enemies, they are our trapped allies that we need to help to escape. Not a fight, festivity!

critical Mass is dynamic. Those what show up are the leadership. The route is determined on the ride. Yet, it is organised, we roll together and watch out for each other. We make the streets safer for a breif few minutes by displacing the autos and riding together.

Recall David Emerson

A letter written to The Province

Dear Sirs,

I find the editorial supporting David Emerson's defection to the Conservative Party offensive. This is not something that "makes sense for BC" or is just a case of crying in your beer. David Emerson has flagrantly disregarded the system of democracy in this country and should not be in Parliament! He should be recalled, even if there is no existing process in place to do that; what he did was without precedence. There were only 8,600 out of 46,000 votes for the Conservative Party in the Vancouver Kingsway riding. The Conservatives came in 3rd place. A whopping 82% of voters voted against the Conservatives. This is not insignificant. There is a fundamental difference between quitting the party as the political scene morphs, months or years after an election, and doing it immediately following an election. To do so right after an election is deceit. He obviously had hidden sympathies for his opponents during the election but chose to hide that from his constituents. This should be illegal.

Emerson's policy of supporting the BC highway Gateway project by changing parties is reckless. This project does not have support in Vancouver. It is irresponsible to pave more and increase car dependency and traffic congestion in our era of Global Climate Change. It shows the desperation of this policy that it is reliant on such anti-democratic maneuvers.

Please campaign to remove this power-hungry liar from office. If he remains, there is no point in voting as accountability is a joke.
